Overview

Written is designed as a personal Bible reading and study app. The app does not sell your data, does not show third-party ads, and does not use third-party tracking.

The app may store study content you create, such as notes, highlights, bookmarks, prayers, praises, gratitude entries, photos you choose, memorization verses, reading progress, settings, and widget preferences.

Information You Create

Content you enter or save in the app is used to provide app features, including reading progress, prayer and praise lists, gratitude entries, memorization practice, bookmarks, highlights, notes, and widgets.

Your study content remains under your control. When iCloud Backup is available and you are signed in to iCloud, Written stores a private backup copy in your own iCloud account. The app does not sell this content.

Private iCloud app data

When iCloud is available, Written can keep a private copy of your study content and selected photos in your own Apple CloudKit account. The developer does not receive this content.

Photos

If you add photos to gratitude, praise, verse-image, or sermon content, the app stores only the photos you select for display inside the app. Written does not scan your photo library. Selected photos may be included in your private iCloud app data when iCloud Backup is available. Photos are never uploaded anywhere else.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, the app may use local notifications to remind you about prayers, praises, gratitude, the verse of the day, memory practice, or other app activity. You can manage notification permissions in iOS Settings.

External Services

Bible text, search, original-language data, and your study content are bundled with the app or stored on your device. Apple processes private iCloud app data when iCloud Backup is available. When you use Bible audio, optional commentary, or another online resource you explicitly open, the app requests that resource from its configured provider. Bible audio is served through the Cloudflare-hosted audio.writtenbible.com domain; optional commentary and additional-book resources may come from their configured public resource service. These providers may receive standard technical information such as your IP address, the requested resource, and basic HTTP metadata.

If you choose to send feedback, the app sends the feedback category and message, app version, device model, iOS version, and any optional response email you enter to Written's website support endpoint. The endpoint is hosted by Vercel and uses Resend to deliver the message to the Written support mailbox. Vercel, Resend, and the receiving email provider may process the submitted content and ordinary request or delivery metadata. Written does not attach other Bible study, prayer, journal, photo, sermon, or iCloud content.

Written does not use those requests for advertising tracking and does not sell information about your Bible reading or study activity.

Support Message Retention

Feedback and an optional response email may remain in Resend delivery records and the Written support mailbox for as long as reasonably needed to review or answer the submission, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and maintain ordinary business records. Provider logs and backups may remain for additional time under each provider's retention and deletion practices.

To request deletion of a support message, email drewddudney@gmail.com or use the Support link above. Include the response email and approximate submission date if available so the message can be located. Written will make a reasonable effort to delete the identifiable support copy it controls, subject to security, legal, and provider backup requirements.

Analytics and Diagnostics

The app does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Apple may provide crash logs or diagnostics to the developer if you have opted in to share diagnostics with app developers through iOS.

This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure aggregate traffic such as page views and referrers without third-party cookies.

Deleting Your Data

You can remove content inside the app where deletion controls are provided. The app removes that content from its active local data and carries the deletion into its next private iCloud update when iCloud Backup is available. Copies in Apple device or iCloud backups may remain until those backups expire or you delete them through your Apple account settings.

Deleting the app removes its local app data from that device, but it does not automatically delete iCloud data, Apple backups, or support messages you previously submitted. Those are controlled separately as described above.

Children

Written is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact the developer so it can be addressed.

Changes

This policy may be updated as the app changes. The updated date at the top of this page will reflect the latest version.
